Dentists For A Better Huntington is a 501(c)3 charity organization which assists people of need in and around the Huntington, NY Township area. Our dentist members, along with our industry partners and other donors, work together to raise funds to support local charities that serve the Huntington community. Since our initiation in 1996, our organization has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars through various charitable donations, fund raisers and educational grants to give back to the community we serve. We support local organizations that provide food, clothes, compassionate services and assistance to local families, children, senior citizens, and veterans. The needs range from providing cooked meals, to funding kitchen repairs at a local veterans residences, to donating to the visiting nurses service hospice, and many more.
Councilwoman Tracey A. Edwards and the Huntington Town Board honor Dentists for A Better Huntington at the February 7, 2017 Town Board meeting.
Our annual check distribution on Thursday, February 9 was a fantastic success. $50,000 was donated to very worthy and appreciative causes. Thank you to all members that attended. The venue at Del Vino was fantastic - the room, food, and wine made for a memorable evening. The vast majority of organizations sent representatives to receive their checks and tell the group about their plans. An artist from Splashes of Hope was there painting a picture while the event was taking place, and each member of DFBH was able to paint some brush strokes to contribute to the artwork! Henry Schein agreed to sponsor the event and offset the costs of the evening.
Special thanks to Drs. Larissa Figari and Inna Gellerman for their help in planning and organizing this event. These gatherings require an enormous amount of work and time to plan.
Our next meeting will be this spring, and our hope is to start planning a fall fundraiser so that we can donate even more next year.
